Joe Flanagan Named Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College sophomore swingman Joe Flanagan (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) has been named the Commonwealth Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 11, the conference office announced Monday.
Flanagan was the game's high scorer in Blue Jay wins over Lycoming College and Messiah College last week. He scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 68-61 victory at Lycoming on Wednesday, then scored a career-high 23 points and went 9-for-10 from the field in a 71-59 win over Messiah on Saturday.
Flanagan, who averaged 21.0 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 73.7 percent from the field for the week, has scored in double figures in all but one of Elizabethtown's 14 games this season. He leads the Blue Jays and is ranked third in the Commonwealth Conference in scoring average at 15.7 points per game.
Elizabethtown (8-6 overall, 2-0 Commonwealth) returns to action on Wednesday at Albright College beginning at 8:00 p.m.
