Glenside, PA: 1/9/10 - Elizabethtown College Men's Basketball landed ten players in the scoring column and built upon a 15-point halftime advantage to lead by as many as 26 in the second half, running past Arcadia University 72-53 in Commonwealth Conference action Saturday afternoon in Glenside. With today's win, Etown improves to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in the league while Arcadia drops to 5-7 and 0-3 against C'wealth opponents.
The Knights ran with the Blue Jays in the opening minutes of action and on a three pointer from Alexis Alfonso '11 at the 11:22 mark. Arcadia trailed by just 9 (11-20) from that point but a trio of buckets from Etown's Bryan Harrity over the next three minutes sparked a 16-10 run for the Blue Jays who went into the half leading 36-21. The Blue Jays scored 22 points off of 17 first half Arcadia turnovers.
Things would only keep going Etown's way in the second half as their 15-point lead grew to 24 by the 12:13 mark (29-53) when Chris Jones sank a three pointer. Arcadia would battle under the boards, cutting Etown's hefty lead down to 19 by the final buzzer, but settled for their third league loss of the season.
Jones led Etown with 11 points and 4 rebounds while Keith Fogel, Mark Vogel and Travis Mettler added 9 apeice. Glen Gagnon '10 led Arcadia with 11 points on 3-4 from the floor and 5-7 from the line. Darrell Mills '11 chipped in with 9 points and led AU on the boards with 9 while Billy Beck '12 contributed 10 points and 3 boards.
For the game, Etown outshot AU 48% to 42% but the Knights held the advantage at the free throw line, sinking 16-21 to Etown's 7-14.
